These problems can develop suddenly or build up over time, and acting promptly can make a real difference to your outcome and peace of mind.
Common Reasons To Seek Emergency Care Include:
● Severe or persistent toothache
● A chipped, fractured or dislodged tooth
● A knocked-out tooth after an injury
● A lost or broken filling, crown or veneer
● Soft-tissue injuries such as bites or cuts to the cheeks, tongue or gums
● Swelling, a suspected infection or an abscess
The aim of an emergency appointment is to assess quickly, provide appropriate immediate care and plan any follow-up that supports long-term stability. By focusing on both relief and protection, we help you feel more comfortable now and more confident about the future of your smile.

When urgency strikes, calm guidance and clear communication matter. Patients from Broughton choose Silver Oaks Dental because we combine modern technology with reassuring, person-to-person care.
● Bespoke, patient-focused care. We listen carefully and recommend treatment based on your specific needs following a clinical assessment. You receive options that make sense for you and your smile.
● A relaxing environment. Our team is calm, clear and considerate. We take time to explain what we see and what we can do, helping you feel at ease throughout your visit.
● Precision that benefits you. Our CBCT scanner can capture detailed 3D images when clinically appropriate. This helps us diagnose complex emergencies such as dental trauma or suspected infection with greater clarity, supporting accurate decisions and efficient planning.
● Comfortable digital impressions. Our intraoral scanner produces precise digital models in minutes. This is especially helpful when repairing a broken tooth or restoring a crown, improving comfort and accuracy without traditional moulds.
● Consistent standards. We hold ourselves to high clinical and communication standards, keeping you informed at every stage so you always know what to expect next.
Every detail is designed to support your comfort and confidence, from the welcome at reception to the clear aftercare advice you can follow at home.
When you get in touch, we will ask about your symptoms, how long you have had them and any recent dental history. This helps us understand the urgency and guide you on what to do before your visit, such as storing a knocked-out tooth in milk or avoiding biting on a fractured tooth.
At your appointment, your dentist will examine the area and take any necessary images to clarify what is happening beneath the surface. This may include small dental x-rays or, when indicated, a CBCT 3D scan for a more detailed view. Seeing the full picture allows us to treat the immediate problem effectively and plan the next steps with confidence.
Immediate Care May Include:
● Stabilising a damaged or loose tooth
● Smoothing or covering sharp edges to protect your tongue and cheeks
● Addressing discomfort
● Placing a temporary filling, crown or protective cover
● Managing swelling where appropriate
Once the urgent issue is controlled, we will outline your options for ongoing care and the timeframes involved. You will receive clear guidance on what to expect and how to look after the area between visits. All treatment is subject to clinical suitability.
Emergency appointments can help if you have:
● A chipped, fractured or knocked-out tooth after an injury
● Persistent or severe toothache, including pain on biting or sensitivity that does not ease
● Swelling, a suspected infection or an abscess
● A lost or broken filling, crown or veneer that is causing discomfort or risk of further damage
● Bleeding or trauma affecting your gums, tongue or cheeks
Suitability depends on assessment by a dentist. If you are unsure whether your concern is an emergency, please contact us. A short conversation can help you decide on the next step and protect your smile.
All treatments are provided following an examination to confirm suitability. Digital imaging and scanning are used when clinically appropriate.
