Prompt, personalised care in Milton Keynes when your smile needs it most.

At Silver Oaks Dental in Milton Keynes, we understand that dental problems do not wait for a convenient moment. If you are from the City Discovery Centre area and need emergency dentistry, our private practice offers calm, capable support when something suddenly goes wrong. We focus on relieving pain, protecting your teeth and planning sensible next steps so you feel looked after from the moment you contact us.

Dental problems can escalate quickly. Please get in touch promptly if you experience:
● Severe or persistent toothache
● Swelling, heat or tenderness in your face or gums that may suggest infection
● A knocked-out, loose or fractured tooth
● Broken fillings, crowns or veneers that are sharp or painful
● Bleeding from the mouth that is not settling
● Trauma to the lips, gums or jaw
If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it by the crown, not the root. If it is clean, try to gently place it back in the socket without forcing it. If this is not possible, keep it moist in milk or saliva and seek urgent dental advice.
TEAM

Principal Dentist
Vasantha is a General Dental Practitioner and Cosmetic Dentist. She qualified in 2011 from NTR University, India, and later moved to the UK, obtaining her GDC registration in 2015. With over seven years of NHS experience, she has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic Dentistry (2022) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Periodontics (2023).
She has a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, Implants, Periodontics, and Invisalign® treatments. Known for her caring approach, she takes pride in providing quality patient care. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
Your first visit is focused on finding the cause of the problem and making you more comfortable. We start with a short, focused conversation about your symptoms, followed by a careful examination of your teeth and gums. Digital X-rays and, where appropriate, 3D imaging help us assess fractures, hidden decay or signs of infection that may not be visible to the eye.
Once we have a clear picture, your dentist will explain the findings in plain English and agree a plan for the day. Comfort is a priority. Local anaesthetic can be used where needed to help you relax while we work. Before you leave, we will share clear guidance on what has been done, what to expect and the options for further care if required.
Every emergency is different. After an assessment, we will recommend the most suitable next step for you. This may include:
● Pain relief and protective dressings to settle an inflamed tooth
● Smoothing or rebuilding chipped and fractured edges to protect soft tissues
● Recementing or temporarily replacing a lost crown or filling where suitable
● Opening a tooth to relieve pressure from an acute infection, with antibiotics prescribed where clinically appropriate
● Gentle cleaning and care for gum or soft tissue injuries
● Stabilising loose teeth after trauma
● Removing a tooth that cannot be saved, only when there is no better option
Emergency care is designed to relieve symptoms and stabilise the area. A follow-up appointment is often advised to complete definitive treatment and support long-term oral health.
Accurate assessment helps us make better decisions together. Where useful, our Milton Keynes practice can use:
● CBCT scanner. Silver Oaks Dental has a Cone Beam Computed Tomography scanner that can capture detailed 3D images of the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures. This can be especially helpful after trauma, for complex root infections or when planning further treatment. It supports clearer diagnosis and more precise planning.
● Intraoral scanner. We use an intraoral scanner to create precise digital impressions. This can improve comfort on the day, reduce the need for traditional impression trays in many cases and help you visualise proposed solutions such as crowns or onlays.
Technology is only used when it adds value to your diagnosis or treatment. Your dentist will explain the reasons, what the images show and how they guide your care.
Before you leave, you will receive tailored advice to help you recover comfortably. This may include:
● How to keep the area clean while it heals
● Sensible dietary adjustments for a few days
● Guidance on managing discomfort with over-the-counter pain relief if suitable for you
● What signs to look out for and when to contact us again
If further care is required, we will book your next visit and outline your options with clear guidance. Results vary from patient to patient, and a review helps ensure everything is healing as expected.
Emergency appointments are suitable for anyone with sudden dental pain, swelling, trauma or problems that are affecting day-to-day life. Patients from the City Discovery Centre often contact us for:
● A toothache that keeps returning or disturbs sleep
● A cracked or chipped tooth after a meal or accident
● Swelling that feels warm or tender to the touch
● A filling or crown that has broken or come away
● Injuries from sport or a fall
Following an assessment, your dentist will advise on the best course of action for your situation. Where relevant, we will plan restorative or endodontic treatment as part of your ongoing care.
If you feel anxious about dental treatment or visiting a new practice, please let us know when you get in touch. We take time to explain each step, answer questions and work at a pace that suits you. Our approach is friendly, unhurried and designed to help you feel confident about your decisions. Comfort is central to what we do, and local anaesthetic is used where needed. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member for support.
